Platform research finding (v1)
Platform research finding is one of Demiton's published registers for Australian civil construction. Demiton keeps it current from the systems a contractor already runs and publishes the record's shape as a versioned JSON Schema, so the same question works whichever system produced the record.
- Register ID
platform_research_findingUse this name to ask for the register. The API calls it a shelf ID.- Data
- PublicShared, from public sources such as procurement portals.

Connectors
Connected today
Demiton keeps this register current from these systems now.
No system fills this register yet.
On the roadmap
Systems in the planned connector rollout that can fill this register. Partial means the system holds only some of its fields.
None planned yet.
Fields
17 fields: 12 required, 5 optional.
Required
Every record carries these fields.
- labelText
How the finding is named on the surface, in the source's own terms - 'Mean total rework cost (115 Australian civil projects)'.
- confidenceText
How hard the figure was to verify:
high(re-fetched and checked at the primary source),moderate, orlow. Carried so the surface can rank its evidence honestly instead of presenting a secondary citation as a measurement.- metric_keyText
The finding's stable identifier within its disease, e.g.
rework_total_civil_survey. The seed's idempotency partner: re-running the seed updates the same row, and a genuinely new finding gets a new key.- source_orgText
The publishing organisation or author of record.
- source_urlText
A resolvable link to the source.
- disease_keyText
Which of the five margin diseases this finding prices - the SD027 §4.6 disease key (
rework_signal,overrun_signal,claim_window,evidence_gap,compliance_gate)- is_headlineTrue or false
True for the ONE finding per disease that carries its headline exposure on the /protection sub-tab. Declared by the source's own prominence rather than inferred: the disease's most-cited, most defensible figure - rework's 10% Australian civil survey, not the 12.3% derived split; the roads 20%, not the 23% rail case. Exactly one per disease that has any projectable figure.
- source_titleText
The paper, report or dataset title.
- exposure_kindText
Who bears the money:
contractor_loss(the source measured money the contractor loses),money_at_stake(it measured how much is in play, not what is lost),owner_side(the client pays), orsocietal(workers and the community). Only contractor_loss and money_at_stake may reach the headline ledger.- exposure_unitText
How the figure may be projected:
ratio_of_contract(multiplies a contract value),per_wet_day,per_incident,per_year_industry, ornonewhen no published figure exists. Multiplying a per-day or per-incident figure by a contract value is nonsense, so the unit is declared rather than assumed.- exposure_basisText
What the figure is a percentage OF, in words - 'of original contract value'. Stored because the same disease yields 3-5% of one basis and 10% of another, and a bare number without its basis is the most common way a benchmark misleads.
- exposure_valueNumber
The published figure in the source's own unit. A share of contract value is stored as a decimal fraction (10% is 0.10); a per-day or per-incident figure is stored in whole dollars. 0 when the source published no such figure.
Optional
Present when the source system records them.
- caveatText
The author's own plain-English limit on the figure, where the research pass gave one - 'Based on respondents' estimates, not records'; 'Size of the pot, not a loss'.
- sample_noteText
Sample size, geography, sector and method - what bounds the figure. Null where the source did not disclose it.
- source_yearWhole number
The year of the source, for a vintage check - a 2001 benchmark and a 2025 one are not the same evidence.
- source_locationText
Where in the document to look - 'abstract', 'p.5', 'table 23'. Null when the source did not permit it.
- source_secondaryTrue or false
True when the figure was read only through someone else's citation rather than at the primary document.

Use this contract
The contract is a standard JSON Schema (draft 2020-12) document, so any JSON Schema validator can check a record against it. Keywords starting with x-demiton- add Demiton's own meaning, such as units and requiredness, and validators ignore them.
